About Crown Glass Lenses
You get what you pay for right? and that is precisely the case here with crown glass. They are more expensive than CR-39 and the reason for this is not only are they glass as opposed to resin but the manufacture process of crown glass is so precise that it takes up to 20 hours of work to grind and polish to perfection with the result being a lens that is amazingly clear, has nil distortion and outputs the clearest, sharpest vision. Other benefits being that they are quite strong, they are still glass so are subject to damage with high impact but to best avoid breakage, scratching and other damage with everyday general use the crown glass is treated chemically resulting in enhanced overall strength both compressive and tensile, making crown glass one of the most scratch and shock resistant (both thermal and light impact) lenses on the market.
Photochromic Crown Glass Lens Range
Phohochromic models are fitted with a special filter that makes the tint of the glass adjust by going lighter or darker as your environment or light conditions change.
