Shimano Telescopic Fishing Rod Buying Guide
Here at Fishing Tackle Shop, we have for sale an array of Shimano Telescopic rod sizes. Which do you select to purchase? Find out right here in our handy buying guide. Also, learn about the best fishing reel sizes to match.
Lake, River and Light Inshore Models
The best telescopic fishing rods for targeting bream, trout, perch, flathead, whiting and other light classes of fish inshore (within a lake or river system) are our 6ft, 6ft 6 inch or 7ft Shimano Telescopic rods for sale.
Either three models are light class rods suited for 3-4kg to 3-5kg fishing line depending on which model you purchase. 7ft typically is our biggest seller as the additional length allows a little versatility in your casting distance. However, 6ft or 6ft 6 inch are best for handling skinny water scenarios well.
For either of our three best light inshore lake and river fishing models, we suggest matching to a spinning reel size of between 2500 – 4000.
General Purpose Model
The 8ft size is our general-purpose model for sale. At 8ft, when extended, this model is ideal for several purposes including; lake, river, light rock fishing or even light beach fishing when conditions are perfect.
We suggest using a 4000-6000 sized spinning reel with the 8ft model.
Beach or Rock Fishing Models
For surf fishing or general rock fishing, we suggest either the 10 or 12ft models. As they are longer in length, typically it means you have the leverage to punch a better cast. Casting distance is generally a common factor involved in beach or rock fishing.
The 10ft or 12ft models will be ideal for catching anything from whiting, bream and flathead through to Australian salmon, tailor and other light-medium class fish.
For reel size, we suggest using a 6000-10,000 size spin reel with either the 10ft or 12ft Shimano Telescopic Fishing Rod.
