Shimano Speedmaster Surf Rods For Sale

The all-new Shimano Speedmaster Surf Rod now for sale at the fishing tackle shop is built to cast further and deliver more power. Anyone who fishes from rock platforms, break walls, or surf gutters would know the importance of having a fishing rod that casts well - especially when you require performance and durability for spinning lures cast after cast!

For those anglers who fish from rocks or other high-up locations where there's no place to cast but out over the water – Shimano Speedmaster fishing rods will deliver power precisely when you need it most. Let's be honest; many fish come with an attitude. They pull hard, swim fast, and never seem to follow the rules.

The Speedmaster is loaded with technologies that make it a match against even the most aggressive fish from Australian salmon and tailor through to kingfish, mackerel, longtail tuna or mulloway. Thanks to the combination of strength-to-weight ratio, balanced construction, performance, and durability, Speedmaster fishing rods are all exceptional in every way imaginable.

If you believe in being a trendsetter and not a follower, these surf rods are just what you need. Of course, Shimano's Speedmaster Surf Rods have all the best features. Alconite guides mean they cast well with braid. 24T carbon blanks mean they can stand up to any rigours of beach and rock fishing with ease. However, If there's anything really worth bragging about, the grip section on the Speedmaster surf series was designed for long casting action and big pendulum casts, which is a massive plus for any beach or rock angler.

Speedmaster surf series offers value and a range of options from 9ft to 13ft to suit rock and beach angling. Be sure to review our options for sale below.

Shimano Speedmaster Surf Rods Buying Guide

Although the name may sport "surf" in its title, they are anything but just a surf rod. Speedmaster fishing rods are suitable for a broader range of applications like rock and break wall fishing. Available in various options, let's take a quick look at each one.

9ft Models – There is just one rod in the 9ft size rated 5-10kg, and it makes the ideal rod for fishing for salmon, tailor, whiting, bream and flathead off the beaches and doubles up as an excellent option for spinning metal lures from the rocks. Our suggestion is to pair the 9ft Speedmaster to a 5000-6000 sized spinning reel.

10ft Models – There are three options in the 10ft size. First, a medium spin model featuring a line rating of 3-6kg for lure and bait anglers wanting a bit more sport when targeting fish such as salmon and tailor. Otherwise, the 10ft med is an excellent pick for chasing light class fish such as whiting, bream and flathead in the sand gutters. The 10ft medium spin is perfect for casting out light lures from 10-40 grams, and ideally, matches to 5000 SW sized spin reels.

There is a medium-heavy rod designed to tackle bigger fish with a line class of 8-12Kg. This heavier model will work better with a bigger spinning reel, such as an 8000-10000. Also, they have an overhead rod in the 10ft range for something a little left-field these days.

12ft Models – We have two choices in the 12ft size: either medium 6-10kg spin or an 8-15kg Heavy Spin. Both are ideal for beach fishing, and it just depends on how heavy you wish to fish. However, it is worth noting that the cast weights are 20-80 grams for the medium 12ft model and 60-150 grams for the heavy model.

The heavy model will naturally be your best choice if you fish large baits like squid heads or butterflied mullet for jewfish or beach sharks. However, if you are mainly tossing pillies or worms for typical surf inhabitants, the medium option may be ideal for you. The 12ft medium rod will pair to most 8000-10000 sized reels and the heavy model to 10,000 – 20000 sized spin reels.

13ft Models – Last in the range, and only one in the 13ft length is the extra heavy spin. It won't be your go-to rod for every occasion, but pit this rod against big surf gutter mulloway or beach sharks. Alternatively, cast baits far and wide for kings and more off the rocks. We suggest matching with spin reel sizes between 10000 – 25000.

Benefits

  • Shimano's use of K frame Alconite guides will help your line shoot through the air with high efficiency. So whether you are fishing off a rock platform or a surf beach, Speedmaster rods can help you cast more efficiently.
  • The right combination of blank to butt features – material, length, weight and strength - create the perfect fishing rod for long casting. The rods grip sections were designed in such a way to cater for big pendulum style casts. The cross weave grip helps with a weight reduction compared to conventional grips yet increases sensitivity.
  • The Speedmaster rod is a must-have for every serious rock and beach fisher. While new to the market, Speedmaster already has an enviable reputation as some of the most sensitive fishing rods on the market. Speedmaster rods are made with high-performance Graphite blanks that give you an incredible feel for bite detection, no matter how small, or large your catch might be.

When fishing from rock platforms, break walls, or surf gutters, you need a rod that casts well. Shimano Speedmaster Surf Rods are an all-new rod designed to launch further and deliver more power than many other surf fishing rods on the market. However, with limited supply available due to current demand, it's best not to wait too long before buying your own!
