The design brief was easy, manufacture an Australian made braided line that was smooth, ultra tough and affordable.
Platypus Platinum Braid incorporates a Silicon coating to produce a smooth outer surface of the line. This smoother feel produces quieter, longer more accurate casts. The coating also helps to reduce the dreaded wind knots while adding increased resistance to abrasion and greater knot strength.
Platypus’s experience with braiding technique dates back to their beginnings way, way back to 1898. This has allowed Platypus Australia, to build a braided line with a smoother feel that does not compromise knot and tensile strength.
Platypus Platinum Braid is constructed with 100% Ultra High Molecular Weight PE (Dyneema/Spectra) gelspun fibres. Everything you expect and deserve from a high quality braided line.
Small diameters, extremely high strength and virtually near zero stretch all this without the added impost of an expensive price tag!
