Feltys Saltwater Flies For Sale

Sometimes the average angler needs reminding; fly fishing is for saltwater too. The fly is not just for the trout and their fresh water habitats. For those in the know, those who have done it, for those who have cast flies at Bream, Bonefish, Whiting and a host of salt water, tackle busting pelagic species, they have the inside goss on a truly awesome method of fishing the salt. Not only is fly fishing the salt a well patronised sport, manufactures supply an excellent range of flies to target all sorts of species.

Feltys saltwater flies are designed by Aussie fly legend Mike Felton. The range is huge and covers everything for the salt and fresh water environments. Each fly starts with one of the best hooks available; brands include Daiichi, Gamakatsu and the ubiquitous Mustad, a household brand right across fishing disciplines. Each hand made fly is constructed of the finest material available. They’re quality tested to ensure anglers are fishing with the best. Check out the Feltys flies listed below.

Model Specific Info

Crazy Charlie

The Crazy Charlie is the perfect fly for chasing the elusive but exciting Bonefish. While dynamite when pegged at a Bonefish, the Crazy Charlie is a great general purpose fly for fishing the flats. Target all species that call sand flats and mud flats home. You’ll get Whiting and Bream for sure but you will also get a lot of interest from any species combing the surface for an easy feed. An opportunistic Trevally is an example of hard fighter you’re likely to encounter.

Baited Breath

The Baited Breath is also great on the flats but comes into its own in the snags when tossed about the mangroves in bays and estuaries. You can safely assume that any species that live in these habitats, and readily takes a meal from the surface, will find the Baited Breath completely irresistible. Again, they’re fatal on Bone fish. You will encourage Flatties up for a feed. Bream and Whiting are a certainty and the further north you go you might want to take a punt on tropical species such as Mangrove Jack. Remember, if it hits the surface, it’s likely to hit your Baited Breath.

Bass Vampire

No mystery as to the purpose of the Bass Vampire. Bass are generally a fresh water species but will come down river to hunt the brackish water. It’s also no secret that they love a meal from the top water and will devour a fly. Get your flies as close to the cover as possible and let them float down past and above structure. Come the spring and summer, Bass feed on the critters that frequent the surface. They’ll love your Bass Vampire also. Bass are amazing sport on fly kit.

Bread Flies

Choose the small #8 Hook model for targeting species such as mullet. or the larger 1/0 size if targeting fish such as big bull mullet or milk fish.
