Daiwa Infeet Kodachi Lure - 40SF

For a fishing tackle shop owner, it's extremely challenging at times to pick the right lures to keep in stock. You've got to ensure you have the right mix of lures, from topwater to deep-diving and everything in between. However, I was instantly invested when I saw the new Daiwa Infeet Kodachi Lure at the trade show. It was the bream angler in me that couldn't resist.

I'm not a tournament angler by any means, but I do enjoy fishing for bream. When I go out, I want to ensure that I use the best possible gear and lures available. The Daiwa Infeet Kodachi Lure range has exactly what I am looking for: the perfect fusion of size, weight, profile and colour finishes that are ideal for targeting bream. In light of this, I have decided to put the Kodachi Lure to the test in our shop for any of my customers who love bream fishing.

At 40mm, I believe the Kodachi Lure will perform well when fishing shallow. Daiwa suggests that the diving depth range is 5 feet, so the habitat I would personally look for is rock bars, weed beds and other snags in close. The lure's 3-gram weight will also aid in its shallower presentation, making it easy to work around those structures on a light line class.

In a deeper look at the specs of this lure provided by Daiwa Australia, some key notations are made: the Infeet Kodachi Lures casts like a champ on light tackle. As I've already mentioned, the lure is 3 grams in weight, and that is perfect for fishing in bream territory. However, Daiwa mentioned they had incorporated a system in the Kodachi that is controlled by magnetic energy.

The magnetic energy system is a brilliant innovation, and to explain in short detail, there is a sliding weight and magnet in the nose of the lure. The weight slides back toward the tail when the lure is cast, making for a more aerodynamic flight and superior accuracy.

Another note I made from Daiwa's specifications is that the thin round lip is designed to create immediate action when it hits the water, and the retrieve starts no matter the speed. Sometimes bream are notoriously tricky to catch, so a lure that can be worked slowly and give off a small amount of vibration can be critical. Let's look at the specs in summary below.

Is the Daiwa Infeet Kodachi Lure only a bream lure?

No, you can target other species with it too! The Daiwa Infeet Kodachi lure is a versatile little number that can target various fish species. While it will have great success when using it on bream, it's also well-suited for targeting estuary perch, yellowbelly, bass, flathead, trout and redfin.

What Colours Work Best?

That is the million-dollar question when it comes to fishing lures, and the answer will always depend on the day's conditions. Having said that, there are specific colours in the Daiwa Infeet Kodachi range that will always be popular and productive in nearly any event, and those colours include:

Brown Suji, Sydney Suji, Ghost Perch and Bloodworm.

Where is it best to use the Daiwa Infeet Kodachi lure?

The Daiwa Infeet Kodachi will succeed in many types of inshore fishing environments. As I've already mentioned, it's an excellent choice for targeting bream around shallow structures such as rock bars and weed beds. It can also be used in deeper water, provided you're using the correct presentation. If you have a harbour nearby, the Kodachi will also do well when fished under moored boats and any harbour structure.

How do you fish the Daiwa Infeet Kodachi lure?

The Daiwa Infeet Kodachi lure can be fished in various ways, depending on the situation. For example, a slow retrieval with plenty of pauses is often the key to success if you're fishing around shallow structures. That will allow the Kodachi to keep the lure in the strike zone and entice those finicky bream to strike. If you're fishing in deeper water, a faster retrieval can be used to keep the lure in action and draw the fish in.
