Small Size Class Models
Abu Garcia Max Pro Spin Reel (Small Sizes) 20 or 30 are Ideal for light fishing in rivers, lakes, etcetera.
The Abu Garcia Max Pro Spin Reel Small Sizes 20 or 30 is ideal for casting lures for Bream and Flathead in the bays and salt rivers, and they’re also great for Trout and Bass in the fresh rivers and Lakes.
We recommend pairing the 20-size reel up to a 6-7ft rod with a rating around the 2-5kg mark, and for the 30 size, we recommend a 6-7ft rod with a line rating around 3-6kg.
Medium Size Class Models
Get access to bigger fish and more locations for less money with the Abu Garcia Max Pro Spin Reels Medium Sizes 40 or 60.
Kitting up for the rocks and beach can be an expensive process. The New Abu Max Pro reels make it a lot more accessible and a lot more wallet-friendly.
The 40 or the 60 will see you well placed for light rock work and beach fishing. Both reels will also prove ideal for the boat out offshore.
Use the 40 everywhere on the inshore waters as a light general-purpose fishing reel. It will be ideally pegged against bigger Flathead and the likes of Mangrove Jack, and you will also have enough power to wrestle a more substantial Mulloway. It will be great on the beach for awesome sports action against whiting and perhaps the odd salmon. Cast hard bodies in the top end for serious Barra action.
Hit the rocks and beach with the 60. There is enough drag and plenty of spool capacity for hunting serious Mulloway from the beach gutters and ripping monster Pigs from their hiding spots near the ocean rocks.
The 60 will work brilliantly from the boat to chase nearshore surface feeders like Mackerel or drop Squid down to catch big Snapper.
The Max Pro 60 is the bigger of the models and is suitable for beach rock and boat fishing. If you choose to fish off the beach with this size Max Pro, our ideal recommendation is a 10-12ft rod. For off the rocks, we recommend an 8-10ft rod to match this reel, and for off the boat, a 6-7ft rod with a rating of around 10kgs or so.
For the 40 Size reel, we recommend using this reel on a 6-7ft barra spin graphite style rod, 6-7ft snapper graphite rod, light 3-5kg surf or an 8-9ft light shore spin rod.
